At The Healing Place of New Hanover County (THPNC), we understand the journey to recovery starts with a single step. Our Detox Program is the first stride towards reclaiming your life from the grips of addiction. We believe in providing a comprehensive pathway to recovery, which is why we offer our detox services at absolutely no cost to our clients. Our goal is to remove as many barriers to recovery as possible, ensuring that anyone who seeks help can find it with us.
The primary aim of our detox program is to detoxify and stabilize individuals from drugs or alcohol. Over an average stay of 5-7 days, our guests undergo a crucial transformation, laying the groundwork for a sustainable recovery. Our non-medical detox center is operational 24/7, offering a compassionate place to seek help.
A key component of our program is preparation for the next stage of recovery. As clients go through the detox program, they also start to recognize a shared problem (substance use disorder) and a shared solution among their peers (long-term recovery), fostering a sense of community and understanding that is vital for continuous, sustained recovery.
Our detox is medication-free. We advocate for and facilitate a healthy lifestyle, guiding our clients through the challenging but rewarding process of detox.
Our detox staff, all of whom are in recovery themselves, offer a unique perspective and invaluable support to each of our clients. They share their experiences, strength, and hope, providing a beacon of light to those embarking on their own journey to recovery.
To ensure comfort and security, we have separate accommodations for men and women, with 14 beds in each space.
Individuals typically complete our program in 6-9 months; length of stay highly depends on the individual as our program is motivational based. Every component of our program is voluntary.
All of THPNC’s services are zero cost to the client.
THPNC accepts anyone 18 and up struggling with substance abuse. Please call our Program staff to learn more and complete a pre-screen over the phone. 910-970-4673

THPNC has limited program availability; clients may need to wait 24-72 hours post detox to transition into our long-term program.
Detoxification is just the beginning. Upon completion of our detox program, clients are encouraged to join our long-term recovery program, a comprehensive plan designed to support and guide individuals through their recovery journey.
