Yasmine’s Journey

YasmineWhen Yasmine arrived at The Healing Place in January 2024, she was completely broken and ready to surrender. Having lost her career as a police officer in Robeson County to her struggle with alcohol, she came with a clear purpose: “to get myself together, to stop disappointing my family.” At first, Yasmine was timid, quiet, and nervous. But as she moved through the women’s program, she gradually found her voice. It was inspiring to watch her regain her confidence and begin believing in herself again. Though she initially hesitated to serve as a peer mentor, her growth and heart for helping others led her to accept the role during the phase portion of the program.

Yasmine soon discovered her passion working in the office, where her dedication and warmth quickly shined through. After completing her time as a peer mentor, she was welcomed onto staff – a testament to the trust and respect she had earned. From there, she continued to grow, moving from weekend shift lead to her current role as the full-time second shift monitor int he women’s dorm.

Today, Yasmine is not only a steady presence for clients and coworkers, but also a living example of hope and resilience. Her journey reflects the very heart of The Healing Place: that with courage, support, and community, recovery is possible.

Yasmine’s story reminds us all that healing doesn’t just change lives – it creates leaders who give back with love and strength.
