Milan’s Journey
When Milan first came to The Healing Place in 2023, he was one of the first to trust in our new program. He arrived with determination—but like so many on the path to recovery, he left before finishing.
A few weeks later, he came back—not to stay, but to talk.
“I want to return,” he told our team. “I’m just not ready yet.”
We listened. And we waited.
Months passed. Then one day, Milan walked back through our doors. Still sober—but clearly struggling. This time, he stayed.
At first, he moved quietly through the program—focused, but cautious. Then something shifted. He began to open up, to believe in himself, and to grow. Even after a setback at Step Ten, Milan didn’t walk away. He started again.
His perseverance paid off. Milan became a peer mentor—and then, our peer mentor supervisor. In that role, we saw his transformation fully take root. He stepped into leadership, lifted others up, and became a steady source of strength for the men beside him.
Milan’s story is a powerful reminder:
Recovery doesn’t require perfection—just the courage to keep showing up.
