The Healing Place of New Hanover County (THPNC) is where hope is found. We work with individuals affected by addiction and homelessness through a proven peer-driven model of accountability and connection at zero cost to the client. Our programs range from long term residential treatment to outpatient care, to an overnight emergency shelter and more. Founded almost 35 years ago in Kentucky, The Healing Place model has been replicated more than 15 times across the country.

Many of the individuals who seek help at THPNC have nowhere else to turn. They need us and we need you. You can change someone’s life today.
Our four stages of recovery are free of charge for clients. We create an environment where clients detox, acclimate to THPNC’s environment, attend classes based on the proprietary SOBER180 curriculum, and attend 12 step meetings, ultimately setting them up for success in the real world.. Our detox is a safe place for clients to sober up. They receive a warm bed, food, and fresh clothes as they detox from drugs and/or alcohol. Our detox is a non-medical detox.
The motivational track is the initial stage of our long-term recovery program. Clients work with peers and learn the core principles of Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous.
The recovery stage is where clients learn how to apply the 12 Steps of Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous in their lives with program curriculum.
Clients who complete The Healing Place program receive support in their recovery and better preparation for returning to life outside The Healing Place. Transitional living is available.
